Official: Torino sign PSG goalkeeper to replace Joe Hart

Torino have made it official: Salvatore Sirigu will be their new goalkeeper.

The news follows the return of Joe Hart to Manchester City at the end of a one-year loan.

“Torino Football Club are pleased to announced that we have acquired Salvatore Sirigu from Paris Saint-Germain,” a statement from the Serie A club confirmed.

"Salvatore is an international goalkeeper, with remarkable experience in European and world competitions and an impressive honours list,” president Urbano Cairo added.

Sirigu found himself off the PSG squad when the Parisians signed Kevin Trapp and gave academy product Alphonse Areola a shot at the big time.

The Granata’s latest goalkeeper claimed that he was “very happy to be a part of this team. I chose Torino because they were strongly after me.

“The club is growing, and I believe in its plans. I’m very honoured”.

"He’s won four Ligue 1 titles with PSG, three Trophees des Champions, three Coupes de la Ligue and two Coupes de France,” Cairo continued.

"He was also the best Ligue 1 goalkeeper for two seasons and made 30 appearances in the Champions League.

“He can play a starring role for a few seasons to come”.
