OPINION: Inter should keep Miranda and sell Murillo

Joao Miranda and Jeison Murillo are undoubtedly among the best centre-backs that Serie A can offer. Their great performances and fine interceptions have allowed Inter to become one of the less beaten defense of league.

As previously reported, both Manchester clubs have set sights on the Nerazzurri defensive duo, with José Mourinho, set to become the next United boss, who is reportedly very interested in signing one between them.

Just to make it clear, the Serie A giants want to keep them both and they have yet to receive any official offer for their defensive star players. But if Mancini, Thohir and Ausilio were to choose who to sell next summer, who would they pick?

They would probably take into account two variables: the players’ age and their leadership qualities. There is no shadow of a doubt that the Brazil International’s mentality and personality are much stronger than Murillo’s. The former Atletico Madrid star proved that again a few days ago when he harshly criticized his teammate and compatriot David Luiz for his poor performance in Brazil’s 2-2 draw against Uruguay.

OPINION: Inter should keep Miranda and sell Murillo
Murillo, who’s eight years younger than Miranda, has committed much more mistakes than his teammate this season highlighting lack of concentration every once in a while. The Colombia International still need a guidance, though he has an enormous potential and a bright future ahead.

On the one hand Murillo joined Inter last summer for € 8 million and his price has more than doubled in eight month at the San Siro. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri have spent € 4 million for Miranda’s two-year loan and can make his move permanent for a fee if € 15 million in 2017.

No doubts that an offer in the region of € 20 million for a central defender who will turn 31 in September should be accepted without thinking twice. However, should Inter receive the same offer for Murillo too, we would sell the Colombian and keep the Brazilian, a top-class central defender who would be much more difficult to replace than his younger teammate.
